All is not as it appears in the village of Piddle Bottom. Farmer Kelynack and the owner of Ten Groves Farm are fighting, Miss Gwenna Oliver, the postmistress and Mrs. Lynette Boyle are intent on everyone’s business, the Constable is less than efficient and too boot, an American, Prentice, has arrived in the village. Soon, Lynus and Prentice are embroiled in a local murder. But who is the victim and why is the body lying in a field, as if posed, on the road to Penzance?
